Discontinued Gucci Bags to Know and We Want Back

Discontinued Gucci Bags to Know and We Want Back

Gucci, unlike Louis Vuitton or Chanel, doesn’t have many discontinued bags.

But there are two discontinued Gucci bags that the majority want back.

Jackie 1961

We are talking about the original Jackie 1961. The one and only one that was popularized by Jackie Kennedy.

Gucci’s newest Jackie Line: Gucci Jackie 1961Gucci’s newest Jackie Line: Gucci Jackie 1961

The Gucci Jackie is a crescent-shaped handbag with a distinct curve shape, resulting in a more rounded silhouette. It’s like a hobo-style bag, but with a little more structured. The main element was its piston closure, a cylindrical push-lock on the front of the bag.

But the Gucci Jackie changed into the Tom Ford Era in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It’s like the original, but the main difference is the piston lock. Now it’s more rectangular and sleeker.

Then the Gucci Jackie was changed again, but this time with a more complete closure change. Instead of a piston lock, it was replaced with a hook or lobster clasp closure. While some liked this approach, others missed the original piston lock.

The hook clasps were shortly lived because now Gucci went back to the cylindrical piston lock in their current era of the Jackie.

The Soho Disco bags

The whole Gucci Soho bag line is discontinued. But by far, the most popular Soho bag was the Soho Disco bag.

Gucci does not have a reinterpretation of the Soho Disco. The Soho Disco is a crossbody bag in soft, grained leather with an interlocking GG logo embossed on the front. It has a zip-around closure, an adjustable shoulder strap, and a tassel zipper pull.

It’s still a popular item even today. And since it’s no longer in production, it is a highly sought-after discontinued Gucci bag.

Gucci Interlocking Bag Collection

We all know the interlocking GG logo. And we all know Chanel has a CC interlocking lock. So, what if Gucci had one as well? Well, you get a whole bag line!

Gucci’s Interlocking Bag Collection features a distinctive "GG" logo closure. It was the defining trait of this bag line where you flip open the logo to lift and open your bag.

Sadly, the GG interlocking collection was discontinued when a new creative director, Sabato De Sarno, took over.
