5 Most Iconic Louis Vuitton Collaborations to Know

Louis Vuitton is known for its many different monogram patterns. And many of those are from collaborations Louis Vuitton has done.

But what are the Louis Vuitton collaborations? And who are they?

Who has Louis Vuitton collaborated with?

1. Takashi Murakami (2002)

Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami collaborations are one of their longest partnerships together.

At the time, Creative Director Marc Jacobs wanted to reimage Louis Vuitton to a younger audience, and Murakami’s artistic style was the perfect match.

Most famously, Murakami was the genius behind the multicolor monogram. It is an LV monogram pattern where 33 different colored patterns are on top of a white or black background. It was THE bag of the 2000s.

This Louis Vuitton collaboration continued with Murakami’s art aesthetic of cartoonish designs with vibrant colors on their monogram.

Their initial collab ended in 2015. But after a decade, Louis Vuitton launched a re-edition near the end of 2025.

2. Stephen Sprouse (2001)

In 2001, the then Creative Director Marc Jacobs allowed the Louis Vuitton logo to be changed with the Stephen Sprouse collaborations.

Their most famous collab was the Stephen Sprouse x Graffiti collection. It was an edgy graffiti artwork and punk-inspired aesthetic of “Louis Vuitton” written on top of the monogram.

Stephen Sprouse continued to collaborate with Louis Vuitton with the Rose Monogram, vibrant graffiti roses on top of the monogram, and Leopard Vernis, a limited-edition tribute design with bold leopard prints on Vernis.

3. Yayoi Kusama (2012)

Another Louis Vuitton x Japanese artist collab that we all should be aware of.

Yayoi Kusama is known for her vibrant polka dots and pumpkins on paintings and sculptures.

One of her major Louis Vuitton collaborations was in 2012 with the Kaleidoscope” collection, with large polka dots on LV monogram bags and other goods.

Part of this collab also included Yayoi’s artwork in their stores and even sponsored her work at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

4. Jeff Koons (2017)

In 2017, Louis Vuitton collaborated with Jeff Koons, a contemporary artist who's well known for his balloon animal sculptures.

Their “Masters” collection is quite rare to see out and about. The Jeff Koons Louis Vuitton collaboration makes many Louis Vuitton bags become canvases of iconic artworks by Da Vinci, Rubens, Van Gogh, and many others.

These handbags also include the artist’s name in gold lettering. These bags are very much a statement piece if you get your hands on them.

5. Supreme (2017)

Supreme, an American luxury streetwear brand, collaborated with Louis Vuitton in 2017 to release co-branded items with monogrammed bags and clothing.

It’s the same Louis Vuitton monogram, but in the Supreme color scheme and red box logo.

In closing

There are many Louis Vuitton collaborations out there, but we only focused on handbag collabs.

Was there one that was missing?
